OBSTETRICS
The field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) which is a surgical field. Dr. Thompson has over 10 years of experience delivering babies and caring for pregnant patients.
Due to scheduling demands, however, she no longer oversees the care of pregnancy beyond the first trimester.
GYNECOLOGY
The medical practice dealing with the health of the female reproductive systems (vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, and ovaries). Outside medicine, the term means "the science of women". Its counterpart is andrology, which deals with medical issues specific to the male reproductive system.
